iPad Air 4 Rumors

Posted on

It’s been over a year since Apple introduced the iPad Air 3 in March 2019, so it only makes sense that speculation has started on a possible iPad Air 4th generation release in 2020. The iPad Air is considered Apple’s mid-range tablet, second to the iPad Pro, but above the iPad Mini and entry-level iPad models. Although this year has already seen the release of the latest iPad Pro, there are plenty of rumors going around suggesting an iPad Air follow up is heading our way. Here’s some answers to the top questions everyone is asking.

When will it be released?

Unlike their iPhones, Apple doesn’t follow a specific pattern or schedule of releasing iPads. For example, March 2020 would have been a year since the iPad Air 3 was released, but Apple dropped new models of the iPad Pro that month instead. They haven’t officially announced a date, but according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the release will be in the sometime during the second half of 2020.

How much will it cost?

Apple typically charges the same entry level price as its former model, so we can speculate it would cost around $499. Keep in mind that if an iPad Air 4 is coming, older model prices will drop as they commonly do with new releases.

What features could it have?

The newest iPad is predicted to be 10.8 inches and have the usual glass home button with Touch ID sensor for fingertips. There is speculation that instead of featuring the lightning charging port, it may have the same USB-C port that the iPad Pro 11 inch features. This would allow the iPad Air 4 to charge faster and increase its data transfer speeds. One other feature we might see is the new tablet being designed with MiniLED technology, which allows for lighter and thinner devices without compromising contrast, color and vibrancy.

Any other rumors to share?

Although this isn’t related directly to a new iPad Air, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo anticipates a new iPad Mini between 8.5 and 9 inches coming in the first half of 2021. It’s too early to know anything else about it, but we’ll keep our ear to the ground about this fun rumor.

We can’t wait to see what Apple has next in store for their iPads – stay turned for future updates!
