Already looking forward to the next lineup of iPhones? It looks like the iPhone 16 series is geared for some changes in design and features, and we’re here to round up the latest information for you. Here’s what we know so far:
When will it be released?
If Apple follows their previous launch timeline, they’ll announce the iPhone 16 models in September 2024. Last year they were announced on September 12th and released September 22nd, so we predict a mid-late September launch.
How many models are in the series?
Like last year, the iPhone 16 lineup will include the iPhone 16, 16 Pro, 16 Plus and 16 Pro Max.
What are the device sizes?
Apple has maintained 6.1” and 6.7” screen sizes for several years. However, this might change with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. Rumor is the Pro will increase to 6.3” and the Pro Max to 6.9”, whereas the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will remain the same.
How much will they cost?
In 2023, the prices for the phones started at $799 for the base iPhone 15, $899 for iPhone 15 Plus, $999 for iPhone 15 Pro and $1,199 for iPhone 15 Pro Max. While there has not been speculation yet on what the iPhone 16 lineup will cost, it’s very possible prices will remain similar as iPhone 15.
What features could they have?
- Design: a report suggests iPhone 16 devices having thinner bezels, which could create a slightly larger screen area for some of the models. Camera lens arrangement may also change from a square-shaped bump to a vertically aligned and slimmer pill-shape bump, which hasn’t been used since iPhone 12.
- Colors: no colors are confirmed yet, but there is speculation the options could be blue, pink, yellow, green, black, white and purple.
- MagSafe: the MagSafe alignment magnets in the iPhone 16 series may be slimmer than before, which would cut down on the size of the magnetic ring for MagSafe-compatible cases.
- Buttons: there might be a new button coming specifically to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, which are already on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The “Action Button” would replace the traditional mute switch and be a multi-functional tool to control the flashlight, camera, translate silent mode and more.
- Camera: iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models might include an improved megapixel ultra-wide lens to improve images in lower lighting conditions. They may also have 5x telephoto lenses.
