I recently purchased this product but I am not clear on how to remove it. How do you make the hook retract?

Thank you for your question. Please turn the knob to extend the hook, then push down the vent mount slightly for the hook to tilt upward. Then gently turn the whole vent mount sideways so the hook won't be on the way in contact with the slat/louver/vent blade/slat. Finally, pull the vent mount off the air vent.
